Ruth
McGinley - Piano
Ruth Mc Ginley began to play the piano at the age of two, taught by
her mother. She was awarded a scholarship at the age of nine to the
Royal Irish Academy of Music to study under Dr. John O' Conor.
Ruth received a scholarship to the Royal Academy of Music in London
in 1995 to study with Christopher Elton. She was awarded a B.Arts in
Music Performance from the Royal Irish Academy of Music in 1999 where
she completed her degree studies with Dr. John O' Conor. In 2002 Ruth
was awarded a Postgraduate Diploma in Performance from the Royal College
of Music in London where she studied with the late Irina Zariatskaya
and John Barstow.
Ruth has won many awards including the piano final of RTE's Young Musician
of the Future in 1992. In 1994 she won the piano final of the BBC Young
Musician of the Year. Ruth was also the first recipient of the prestigious
O'Reilly Foundation Scholarship.
Ruth has performed as soloist throughout the UK, Ireland, Europe and
the Middle East. Her concerto appearances have included concerts with
the BBC Philharmonic, London Mozart Players, National Symphony Orchestra,
RTE Concert Orchestra and the Ulster Orchestra.
Ruth returned to her native Derry in 2004. She is in high demand as
a soloist, chamber musician and teacher.
