Mary McCague – Piano

Mary McCague from Dundalk, Co. Louth began her piano studies with Dr. John O'Conor at the age of five. A multiple first prize winner at the Siemens Feis Ceoil at both Junior and Senior levels, Mary has given numerous recitals at various venues throughout the country. She has performed as soloist with the RTE Concert Orchestra, National Symphony Orchestra, National Youth Orchestra U. 18s, RIAM Chamber Orchestra and Wind Ensemble and Trinity College Orchestral Society. Mary has also played orchestral piano with the National Symphony Orchestra and the RTE Concert Orchestra. She is currently piano soloist with the NSO for the famous Music in the Classroom Series, directed by Gearoid Grant.

Mary has a keen interest in contemporary and theatrical music. A former winner of the Contemporary Music Cup at the Siemens Feis Ceoil, she was invited to perform at the recent Composer’s Choice concert in the John Field Room. Mary has also performed with the Crash Ensemble, the EAR Ensemble and at numerous Young Composers Collective concerts at the Goethe Institute. She is also in demand as a chamber musician and piano accompanist and will be the official accompanist at the forthcoming Sligo Feis Ceoil.

Mary was awarded Scholarship of Trinity College in 2000 and graduated in 2002 with a First Class Honours Degree in Music and Irish. She also holds a Masters in MultiMedia from Trinity College Dublin and recently completed a Masters degree in Piano Performance with First Class Honours at The Royal Irish Academy of Music under the tutelage of Dr. John O’Conor and Reamonn Keary.
